this；　scowling；　his　eyes　inflamed；　as　he　peers　about

him　at　the　circle　of　the　Tree　People。　　And　as　he　peers

he　crooks　one　monstrous　leg　and　with　his　gnarly　toes

scratches　himself　on　the　stomach。　　He　is　Red…Eye；　the

atavism。
